Second wind and thank you

I have said the same thing to myself several times over the years. OK lets get some more music released. Time passes and nothing happens. Then I get frustrated with myself because I failed to release any new music.

I'm not the only one. I hear the same thing from some of my peers. It seems to be a common ailment that artist report. Getting stuff finished like this sente.... . .. .

Recently however due to lockdown, and time alone, I've revisited this topic. I tried tiktok because I was told its a quick simple platform to use and at first it was. But then after a handful of posts, which started to gain views, I paused. Heaven forbid I didn't post for a couple of days. As soon as I paused so did my views. I also received emails from tiktok reminding me to post.

Now tiktok like all the other anti social media companies exist for one reason: To make money. And I forgot about that. I had to keep feeding the machine with content so that it could promote my content. When I stopped tickling its belly it rolled over and died for me. We are just data for the algorhythm.

It's the same story with all antisocial media sites. They all crave attention and my time. Time I just don't have.

The good news however is I have rediscovered lots of audio recordings of tracks I've recorded over the last decade. I knew I had them but they were scattered around on old hard drives and mobile phones that themselves were in storage in the loft and the spare room. So I gathered them all up on one hard drive and listened back. Over 800 ideas.

  • Some that were obviously inspired by other artists.
  • Some that were demos that have been developed into previously released tracks.
  • Some were tracks that I have submitted to music libraries.
  • Some were to shit and were deleted, and some were actually cool.
  • Some sounded familiar and some I had no recollection of recording.
  • Some have enticed me back to producing.

MANTRA: I am going to finish new tracks - I am going to finish new tracks - I am going to finish new tracks.

I have started. I have updated my music pc and software licences and I'm up and running and March 2021 saw the release of two singles.

In response I've had some lovely emails from fans from all over the world. These are truly welcome. And I'd like to thank each and everyone of you who took the time to write.

I don't get out much these days..... :o)

So I'll pause here. Why? Because it's Thursday afternoon ( 2:15pm April 1st 2021 to be precise) and while I'm writing this I could be working on a track.

Also thank you for the Coffee.

I'll leave you with a photo I captured a few days ago while out for a walk. "Buzz and the moon".

Buzz and the moon
