Focal Point
Timeline

As Focal Point develops I will endeavour to update this page with a timeline of events as they happen. It may be a bit techie, some may say nerdie, but it's also a diary for me:

Reverse Chronological Order ( Click here to start at the beginning )

25th May 2008 - Big Cars Part 1 - New Drummer.
After hearing a few auditions for drummers I eventually decided to uses the services of a Pro Session Drummer, whose details I will post later. Suffice to say he's nailed the drums on Big Cars (Part1). Also experimented withthe sound of racing cars on this track using electric guitars. That was fun. :O)

11th May 2008 - New Forum Added.
Manually updating this website can take some time. Time better spent on the music. So to make life simple I have added a forum. Drop By and Register

7th May 2008 - Big Cars Uploaded + New Drummer Auditionsl.
6 weeks since my last update, seems a long time but it's busy here at QHQ! Today I uploaded Big Cars with Vox and a new Drummer, who shall be know as "KD". He's from Texas and emailed me and asked if he could play drums on some tracks. So Big Cars is the first song to feature his rythmic skills. How do you think he did?

29th March 2008 - Mixing and Mastering take sits toll.
I uploaded the latest version of "HOLD ON" to Player today. After messing around with various mixes of voices it struck me that the reason for the song is not clear to the casual listener. So I have removed some of my vox and overlaid a news clip that leaves the listener no doubt what the song is about. It may be too strong for the song? What do you think?

20th March 2008 - Nice emails inspire another addition to SHOP.
WOOHOO!!!! I have sold some MP3s of HOLD ON, previously the only track in my shop, but I also recieved an email asking if I could upload "SCARED TO DREAM". Great. So that's what I've done. Thanks to "John, Pete and Libby". Wish you would leave message on my GUEST MAP so I can see where you're from. The link's below if you'd be so kind next time you're here.

17th March 2008 - Added a SHOP to website and uploaded latest "HOLD ON".
Entered the realms of E-commerce today and added a simple SHOP to my website. So if you're reading this and you want to buy some of my music then you can contribute to my BEER/ GUITAR STRINGS fund here.

Spent the last couple of days arranging vocals for "Hold On". Three part harmonies all the way through. I will revisit this song, remix and remove some of the harmonies. Have dropped a guitar track from thrd chorus to give more space. I need to avoid listening to this for a few days. Also added it as the first track to my new shop (Version 170308)

3rd March 2008 - Uploaded to Player :"Hold On 030308"
"Hold On" is taking shape. I recorded some vox with a new mic, and it's sounding better. Made some changes to strings and tweaked guitars a bit. Messed around with EQ's by loosing some bass. Brought up drums and guitars in mix. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with this one. Uploaded version to Player HOLD ON (Version 030308)

Added mailing list box subscription box to homepage.

New Songs Archive Section added.

16th February 2008
Been working on "Hold On" for a couple of weeks. Re-recording guitars to get a fatter sound, adding more keyboards. Need to redo bass soon. I've also been trying to get my vox on track (not much success there). I blame my mike. Well that's my excuse. Anyway I'm going to upgrade my Mics preamp/Comp next week and see if that fixes things. More Toys :o)

6th February 2008
Received first email order for CD from Dave Saunders. Thanks Dave. Better stop messing with website and get on with songs

5th February 2008
Built website and started uploading songs.

27 January 2008
My domain name is still free. Better buy it and build a website.

1 January 2008
New Years Resolution. Write and release Solo Album like I promised myself I would do on January 1st 2007. I guess stopping smoking and trying to loose weight last year put an end to that intention.
